I attended this one day conference on social enterprise at Sadler’s Wells today and was struck by the excitement in the room that perhaps social enterprise’s day had come and that, even through we are in a recession, it IS a great time to start a business, especially one with the triple bottom line of social enterprise – people, profit and planet.
Some notable speakers were:
Duncan Goose from Global Ethics with an inspiring key note speech on how he started the brand One.
Youth media company Catch 22 and their innovative three-way business model – Academy, Magazine and Communications company.
Vanessa Swan from Cockpit Arts who is a great ambassador for social enterprise and turned the organisation’s business model on its head.
All in all, an interesting and inspiring day.
